Dainty Miss Leitzel

Dainty Miss Leitzel
Item# 0058
$19.99

At four feet nine inches tall and 95 pounds, she truly was dainty. But great things come in small packages. In the 1920s, Lillian Leitzel of Breslau, Germany, was a Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey headliner known as the Queen of the Air and, as proclaimed in this poster, the "World's Most Marvelous Lady Gymnast." Leitzel originated a feat called the one-arm plange, or swingover, in which she'd perform a nearly vertical rotation while hanging by only one arm. She'd do dozens at a time as the audience kept count. Nothing dainty about that or this poster reproduction. Measures 25 x 37 inches. Printed in full color on thick poster stock. Original created in 1920.
